CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Lewis County residents are being recognized for voting in every general election for the 50 consecutive years.

Based on records compiled by the county clerk's office, 220 county residents haven't missed a general election in five decades and are eligible to be placed in the West Virginia Voter Hall of Fame.

Secretary of State Natalie Tennant is expected to participate in induction ceremonies set for this afternoon.

Former Secretary of State Betty Ireland created the voter hall of fame last year. The program was created to recognize the state's older residents who have remained active in elections during their life.
