Westside High School Counseling Department will conduct a Senior Information Night at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the school auditorium in Clear Fork. Seniors and their parents are urged to attend. Charleston Social Security Administration office will present a program on how to file for retirement benefits online from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Dunbar Branch Library, 301 12th St. Computers have been reserved for participants to file for retirement benefits online. Starlight Family Fun Center skating rink in Ripley will have a haunted house and Over 50 Skate Night on Thursday for anyone over age 50. For information, call 304-372-2273.

Tri-County YMCA will offer a beginner's class for Tai Chi for Arthritis and Health beginning Nov. 3. Classes will run from 11 a.m. to noon each Tuesday for six weeks. Tai Chi for Arthritis and Health is a gentle flowing exercise that promotes balance, muscle strength and flexibility. The cost is $20 for Y members and $35 for non-members. City of Nitro will have a Chili Cook-off from 2 to 4 p.m. Nov. 8 in front of the United Methodist Church, 20th Street, Nitro. In the event of rain, the cook-off will be moved inside the church gym. The cost is $10 a table, 25 cents to sample ($1 for a large sample). Proceeds will benefit the Nitro Christmas Basket and Toy Program.
