Preston County sued in inmate's 2005 death

KINGWOOD, W.Va. -- The family of a man found hanging in the Preston County Jail is suing the suspected killer, fellow inmates and the Preston County Commission.
Timothy Daft died the day after he was found in his cell in August 2005.
On Tuesday, a grand jury indicted Leonard Wotring, now an inmate at Mount Olive Correctional Center, on a first-degree murder charge.
Attorney Sean Murphy filed the wrongful death lawsuit last month, claiming Wotring and other inmates attacked Daft. The suit says then-Sheriff Ron Crites knew about the attacks but took no action to protect Daft, then concealed the information from Daft's family.
Daft had been charged with sexually abusing a toddler.
Crites and Commission President Craig Jennings have declined comment.Advertisement - Your ad here
