West Virginia Institute for Spirituality will offer a program titled "Mandalas: Creating A Map of Consciousness," from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at 1601 Virginia St. E. Edna Thomas and Melinda Thomas Hansen are the mother-daughter duo who will lead participants in the exploration of Mandala creation. An offering of $25 is requested. Call 304-345-0926 to register.
Upper Vandalia Historical Society will have its quarterly meeting at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Putnam County Board of Education office, Winfield, behind the old courthouse. This is the second Show and Tell meeting of the year. Bring a historical item, picture or story to share with the society. Nonmembers are welcome. Kanawha Trail Club will sponsor a hike at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Carpool from Ohio and Randolph streets. Meet at the meeting place and pick a hike and leader.
Spanishburg Ruritan Club will sponsor a pancake breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Bluestone Valley Fire Department Community Room, behind the Methodist church. Buckwheat and regular pancakes will be served with sausage or bacon and drinks. The cost is $5 ages 13 and up and $3 for children 12 and under. Proceeds will be used for community projects, including a college scholarship and school projects.

Hansford Community Center will feature Rachael Brown and the Road Runners Band performing classic country from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Center. Admission is by donation. Hot dogs will be sold beginning at 5 p.m. Call 304-722-4621 for information.
Charleston Town Center will offer a Build-A-Bear Workshop Pet Party from 11 a.m. to noon Saturday at Center Court. There is no charge. Face painting, coloring, refreshments and a photo opportunity with Bearemy from Build-A-Bear Workshop will be available.
Al-Anon will have open meetings at 8 p.m. Tuesdays at St. John's Episcopal Church, 1105 Quarrier St.; at 7 p.m. Thursdays at St. Christopher's Episcopal, 819 Somerset Drive, Edgewood; and at 7 p.m. Sundays, Study Group, First Presbyterian, 508 Second Ave., South Charleston.
