Open Stage for Kids: will be offered for child performers ages 5-15 (and their parents) on Friday at Unity of Kanawha Valley. Sign-up begins at 6 p.m. and the music will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Open Stage 4 Kids is held the last Friday of each month. For information, visit www.openstage4kids.info. Montgomery High School Class of 1956: will have its reunion on Friday and Saturday. The reunion will coincide with MHS All-Years reunion being held from 7 to 11 p.m. on Saturday at Valley High School in Smithers. The class of 1956 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Friday for dinner at the Texas Steakhouse at Southridge Centre on U.S. 119. The Hampton Inn in the same complex has reserved a block of rooms for the classmates. Call 304-746-4646 to secure your reservation. Classmates who plan to arrive Thursday will meet in the Hampton Inn lobby at 6:30 p.m. for dinner.
Kanawha City Community Center: is offering a Zumba Gold class beginning Friday at the Center, 3511 Venable Ave. The class will be held at 6:30 p.m. each Friday and at 9:30 a.m. on Saturdays. Registration fees are $20 for the four-week session. Zumba Gold is set at a beginners pace for the older active adult. Town of Buffalo: will have its Octoberfest from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Crafts, food, apple butter, music, contests, living history, S.T.A.R.S. Family Fun Fest and Poker Run will be featured. There is no charge. Exhibit/booth space is available for rental. To reserve a space, call 304-937-2619.
Hurricane High School Band: will host the 26th annual Whirlwind of Music Festival on Saturday at the school. The competition begins at 7 p.m. and features high school marching bands from across the area. Admission is $5 and concessions will be available.
West Virginia State University: will present the film, "Ray," starring Jamie Foxx, at 7 p.m. Thursday in Room 134 of the WVSU Student Union. The film is being shown as part of National Disability Employment Awareness Month activities. For information, call 304-558-0342 or e-mail cb...@hsc.wvu.edu.
Central West Virginia Fall Craft Show: will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Flatwoods Community Building. There will be hourly door prize drawings as well as food concessions.
