WVU opens $16 million transportation hub

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- West Virginia University commuters now have a special place to study or relax in between classes.

WVU celebrated the grand opening Monday of a $16 million transportation hub that includes a commuter student lounge with couches, wireless Internet access and lockers to store books.

The 7,000-square-foot Mountaineer Station also offer showers, bicycle lockers and a 500-space parking garage. Students also can catch a bus or tap an ATM machine there.

Commuter student programs coordinator Brian Walker said about 850 first-time, full-time commuter students are enrolled at WVU this year.
