CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Actor and comedian Anthony Griffith will be the featured entertainer at the 16th annual Jim Dent Dinner, which begins at 6 p.m. Oct. 20 at Charleston Embassy Suites.
The dinner is the main fundraising event for Kanawha Pastoral Counseling Center, which serves more than 1,000 clients a year.
Tickets are $75 each. Half the price is a charitable donation to the work of the center. Tickets may be purchased by calling 304-346-9689.

Sponsored by Religious Coalition for Community Renewal, the dinner includes a silent dessert auction. Rod Blackstone, assistant to the mayor of Charleston, is the featured speaker.

The wine reception and auction will feature fine wine discoveries selected by Mark and Allyson Liebendorfer, proprietors of The Country Vintner.

Thanksgiving benefit
POCA, W.Va. -- The 23rd Annual Thanksgiving Benefit Dinner to aid the homeless is set from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 8 at Wellington's of Scarlet Oaks.
The event includes a traditional Thanksgiving feast, music and good company. All proceeds benefit the YWCA Sojourner's Shelter for Homeless Women and Families and the Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center Inc.
Ticket are $30 (60 percent tax-deductible); free for children under age 10. To register, call 304-340-3553.
Y fundraisers do just that
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Sept. 10 Bunco Night fundraiser held by the Saint Francis Hospital Domestic Violence Committee raised $8,323 for the YWCA Resolve Program.
On Oct. 1, Guys Night Out raised $23,740 to help homeless women and families at the YWCA Sojourner's Shelter. McJunkin Red Man was host for the event.
