Two Mineral commissioners support proposed wind farm

KEYSER, W.Va. -- The Mineral County Commission is backing a proposed $131 million wind farm on Green Mountain near Keyser.

Pinnacle Wind Force is seeking approval from the state Public Service Commission to build 23 turbines that would generate about 55 megawatts of power.

The County Commission voted 2-1 Tuesday to support the project.

Commission President Wayne Spiggle opposed the motion, saying it was premature. He unsuccessfully sought to delay the vote until after the PSC holds an evidentiary hearing on the developer's application. The hearing is setCommissioners Cindy Pyles and Janice LaRue cited the jobs and tax revenue that the wind farm would create.

We need all forms of energy - but if you look under the covers of these deals you will find all this will be sold outside of WV so it does nothing to support our renewable energy mandates.
