CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The director of the Braxton County Solid Waste Authority has been charged with embezzling more than $50,000 from the agency.

Bridget Dawn Grounds, 34, of Wilsie, allegedly misappropriated money that was under her control as the director of the county agency, according to a criminal complaint filed Tuesday in Braxton Magistrate Court by West Virginia State Police Cpl. M.R. Yost.

Without authorization, Grounds spent more than $50,000 on personal items and bills, the complaint states.

Grounds was released after posting $2,000 bond, according to court documents.
