Alzheimer's Association will hold a fundraiser and will be accepting donations on Sunday at the Wal-Mart at Southridge Center.
Truth Seekers will meet from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Top O Rock, 2 Ramu Road. Topic will be "Vaccines -- Are They Safe?" and a discussion will be held on the swine flu. The group meets the first Sunday of each month. Call Ted Elden at 304-344-2335 or visit www.abodia.com/v
Alum Creek Alliance will have a spaghetti dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Alum Creek Grade School. The dinner is $7 and includes spaghetti, salad, dessert and drink. For information, call 304-756-2638.
Kanawha County Public Library system will celebrate the West Virginia Book Festival by offering amnesty on any overdue materials returned during the days leading up to the event. Patrons may return overdue materials starting Monday and continuing through Oct. 11 to any Kanawha County Public Library location. No fines will be charged for the returned items. Overdue fines will also be waived for overdue books deposited in the book return during the week. Audiovisual materials may be left in book returns at most branches. Check with a staff member for more information. The Main Library in Charleston and St. Albans Branch Library will begin winter hours this Sunday. Hours at those locations will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays through April. Call 304-343-4646.
Nitro High School will have a reunion planning meeting at 6:45 p.m. Tuesday at the home of Cheryl Wintz Withrow. Call 304-760-2121 for directions.
Kanawha City Elementary will be hosting its third annual Fall Festival from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday at the school, 3601 Staunton Ave., Kanawha City. Food, games and a variety of inflatable jumps, pumpkin painting, cakewalk and live entertainment will be featured. Proceeds will be used to improve the school's technology program and pay for a technology teacher. Wristbands are $10 for the games. Tickets are 25 cents each for food and special activities.
