Kanawha County Courthouse will celebrate Breast Cancer Awareness Day at 10 a.m. in front of the Kanawha County Courthouse steps. An unveiling of the Breast Cancer Awareness Wreath will be held. Commissioner Hoppy Shores will read the proclamation. 

Coal Fork United Methodist Church will have its "Circle of God's Love" rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. today and Friday; and from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday in the church activity building, Campbells Creek Drive.

FUTURE EVENTS

Beni Kedem Oriental Band will have its annual oyster dinner from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Beni Kedem Shrine Center, 100 Quarrier St. All you can eat oysters -- stewed, fried and half shell; fresh-fried catfish and baked beans, hush puppies, coleslaw, desserts and hors d'oeuvres will be featured. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Buy advance tickets at the Shrine Center. For questions, call 304-348-9405.

Valley Park (Wave Pool): has rescheduled its parking lot sale that was rained out. The sale will now be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Spaces are available for rent. Call the Putnam County Parks and Recreation Commission at 304-528-5183, ext. 14.

Alum Creek Alliance will have a spaghetti dinner from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Alum Creek Grade School. The dinner is $7 and consists of spaghetti, salad, dessert and drink. For information, call 304-756-2638.

Kanawha Trail Club will sponsor a hike at 12:30 p.m. Sunday to Meadow River Estates. Carpool from Ohio and Randolph streets. Regroup at Marlene Dial's Cabin. The hike is approximately 4.5 miles to the confluence of Gauley and Meadow rivers. Difficulty: 1 mile is on the country hard road; moderate grading. A shorter version is available, hike of 2.5 miles. A light supper is provided following the hike.

New River Elementary School, 262 Oyler Ave., Oak Hill, will have informal open house/self-guided tours from 2 to 4 p.m. daily and Sunday and on Oct. 11 and 18.

Tri-State Fil-AM Association of West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio will present a Medical Mission Fundraiser "Tribute to Elvis Concert" by Stephen Freeman at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Municipal Auditorium, Virginia Street. Philippine cultural dance numbers will be featured at the intermission. The cost is $25 and $18.
