Randolph fair building to be named for late delegate

BEVERLY, W.Va. -- State Delegate William Proudfoot was always a big supporter of the Randolph County Fair, and organizers want to pay tribute to his memory.
A ceremony will be held Sept. 13 at 4-H Camp Pioneer near Beverly to name the camp's Agricultural Building for Proudfoot.
Proudfoot, a Randolph County Democrat first elected in 1990, helped secure nearly $500,000 in funding to build the agricultural complex at the camp.
The Agricultural Building was completed in September 2008, and used for the first time at the Randolph County Fair last year.
Last December, Proudfoot was killed when he lost control of his pickup truck on an icy Barbour County road.
