Alum Creek Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor a portrait shoot fundraiser from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Alum Creek Fire Station. A $15 donation is requested and a complimentary 10-by-13 portrait will be given. Walk-ins are welcome. Proceeds will be used to purchase rescue equipment.

Khyentse Ozer Meditation Center will have an opening celebration from 11 a.m. to noon Sunday at 125 Keller Ave., Fayetteville. The center features meditation in the Tantric Buddhist tradition. A catered brunch will be served free to the public. Tibet's ancient Tantric Buddhist tradition offers serenity and joy through meditative practices of mind, body and feeling.
