McDowell delegate vows to stop traffic to protest tolls

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- For at least one lawmaker, the fight over toll increases on the 88-mile West Virginia Turnpike is not over.
Delegate Clif Moore says he plans to block the Ghent toll plaza with his car on Aug. 1, the day the hikes take effect.
The McDowell County Democrat made the pledge during the run-up to Wednesday's vote on the increases. He said Thursday his plans haven't changed.
The turnpike's governing board voted to raise tolls on passenger cars from $1.25 to $2 and on large trucks from $4.25 to $6.75. It also offered discounts to motorists who buy a West Virginia E-Z Pass.
Moore says the board ignored public opposition to the increases and didn't look hard enough for alternatives.

Here we complain about a representative standing for a cause (who cares about his motives). I would rather they stand for something. We complain when they don’t do anything, we complain when they do something, what’s wrong with this picture?
This organization also promoted tourism. I want to pay for tourism because I travel a specific road?

I agree, this is nothing but political grandstanding by a buffoon.
If I read it right in the first article. The toll is only going up a nickle for people using the EZ Pass. I think they explained it as only costing $5 for the transponder. One trip to Chas and back it would pay for itself. I use one in work vehicle.
Saves time at toll booths. Don't have to stop. Even if you only run the road a few times a year. It would be worth looking into.
