Cars, not planes, will be flying at Elkins airport

ELKINS, W.Va. -- The Elkins-Randolph County Airport will be busy this weekend but it will be cars, not airplanes, hurtling down the runway.

Jolly Roger Motorsports is sponsoring its second drag race Saturday. Up to 100 drivers are expected to compete.

A similar event in May drew about 80 drivers and hundreds of spectators.

Organizers say all cars are welcome and most racers will set up the contests themselves.

All cars will go through a safety inspection to ensure belts, batteries and tires are in working order.

Drivers must be at least 18, and seatbelts are required.

Registration is $30, and admission is $5.
