Shoplifters loot Vienna mall of $25K worth of items
Advertiser

VIENNA, W.Va. -- Vienna police are searching for organized teams of shoplifters who looted about $25,000 worth of merchandise from two stores at the Grand Central Mall in a single day.

The Victoria's Secret and Aeropostale stores were hit between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday. Victoria's Secret reports that about 400 bras and 350 pairs of panties were stolen, worth about $23,000. Aeropostale says more than $2,000 worth of T-shirts were stolen.

Vienna Police Sgt. R.W. Shuman says it's unclear whether the same gang carried out both thefts.

Shuman believes the thieves used specially lined shopping bags to avoid setting off the stores' alarms, and had decoys distract employees while the shops were looted.

Having experience with Aeropostale loss prevention "professionals", I can speculate that the actual organized shoplifting effort only took place at Victoria's Secret. Aero LP are lightning fast at blaming their background loss on the most convenient event and/or person. the magnitude of their loss is is only 8% of the loss experienced by VS - further indication that the losses were unrelated. Aeropostale corporate loss prevention are just doing what they always do.

Inside job for sure. I wonder how long it will take Vienna to figure that one out.
