Morris Enrichment Center of Morris Memorial Church, 4615 MacCorkle Ave., will sponsor a multiple-family yard sale from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the gymnasium. Hot dogs and baked goods will be sold. Rain or shine. Proceeds will be used to purchase new playground equipment for the church and child-care center.
West Virginia Amateur Radio will join other amateur radio operators in the U.S. and Canada in the American Radio Relay League's Field Day, held Saturday and Sunday on the Putnam County Bank property off Interstate 64's Hurricane exit. Field Day is an annual emergency preparedness exercise and contest. Beginning at 2 p.m., using non-commercial power sources and continuing for 24 hours, operators will contact as many other amateur radio stations as possible. For information, call 304-549-3964.
Lincoln County Genealogical Society will host an Antiques Appraisal Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Hamlin-Lincoln County Public Library, Lynn Avenue, Hamlin. Gale Ferguson of Grandmother's Attic, 444 West 14th St., Huntington, will be the appraiser. The appraisal cost is $5 per item or $12 for three items. Payment can be made at the door. Large items can be appraised by bringing in a photo on CD or thumb drive.
American Red Cross will sponsor blood drives from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, CAMC Memorial Hospital, 3200 MacCorkle Ave.; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, CAMC Women and Children's Hospital, 800 Pennsylvania Ave.; 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Wells Fargo Disability Management, 426 Leon Sullivan Way; 2 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Poca United Methodist Church, 112 Silver St., Poca; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, state Department of Environmental Protection, 601 57th Street S.E. The Charleston Donor Center at 4501 MacCorkle Avenue S.E., is open for blood donations from noon to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Fridays. Harambee Child Development Center is enrolling 4-year-olds for its free Pre-K class through Tuesday. The class, sponsored by Kanawha County Schools, begins Sept. 1. The center at 131 Perkins Ave., Dunbar, offers creative curriculum in a learning environment with nurturing staff along with science and math discovery, prevention strategies, video surveillance and Internet monitoring.
