CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The mayor of Chesapeake in eastern Kanawha County is in the hospital after experiencing heart problems over the weekend.

Damron Bradshaw was admitted to the hospital Saturday after having heart trouble, according to Chesapeake City Clerk Sue Hatfield.

Bradshaw's condition is listed as "under evaluation" at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston.

Kanawha County Commissioner Kent Carper would not comment on the nature of Bradshaw's condition, but did say that he has been in constant contact with Bradshaw's relatives, who said that he is getting better and improving.

"I was very alarmed when I first heard about it, but I understand he's getting better. He's quite the mainstay up there," Carper said. "He's a dear friend and we are very concerned about him."
