BRUCETON MILLS, W.Va. -- Secretary of State Natalie Tennant's office is investigating Bruceton Mills' abbreviated voting hours during the June 9 primary.

Tennant said the results of that investigation would be forwarded to the Preston County prosecutor.

Prosecuting Attorney Mel Snyder said he wasn't sure what action could be taken. Options include a misdemeanor charge for holding an improper election, asking a judge to mandate specific polling hours or setting aside the election and ordering another election.

Mayor Lisa Loughry said she knew her town was violating state law by opening the polls for only two hours. But she said the town of 74 people didn't have enough volunteers to staff the polls from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
