WESTON, W.Va. -- A West Virginia Army National Guard official says a new unit established in Weston gives the town new opportunities.
The 620th Signal Co. is a support unit that uses satellite technology to provide communication capabilities to other units.
Lt. Col. Clay Coatney says the 620th's members are highly skilled, well-educated soldiers, most of whom will stay in Weston and support local businesses. Coatney is commander of the 201st Field Artillery in Fairmont and will oversee the Weston unit's operations.
The 620th replaces the 1092nd Engineering Unit, which moved to a new armory near Buckhannon.
