CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Gov. Joe Manchin ordered Friday that all U.S. and state flags at state facilities be flown at half-staff on Saturday to remember a soldier from Morgantown man who was killed in Afghanistan.
Brent S. Cole, 38, died in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan on May 22. He was a member of the 1st Attack Helicopter Battalion of the 82nd Airborne Division's Combat Aviation Brigade.
Cole graduated from Preston High School in Kingwood.
He was posthumously promoted to the rank of Chief Warrant Officer Four. He is also being posthumously awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Meritorious Service Medal and the Air Medal.
Memorial services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, Kingwood. Interment will follow at Masontown Cemetery.
