FUTURE EVENTS
Town of Ansted will have a special Memorial Day service at 11 a.m. Sunday in Ansted to honor all fire, EMS, police and military personnel. For information, contact Rick Lewis at 304-573-8220.
American Red Cross will sponsor blood drives from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Forrest Burdette United Methodist Church, 2848 Putnam Ave., Hurricane and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the Department of Human Services, 4190 Washington St. S.W. The Charleston Donor Center, 4105 MacCorkle Ave. S.E., will be open Memorial Day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Regular hours resume Tuesday. All presenting donors on Memorial Day at the Donor Center will receive a $5 Speedway gift card while supplies last.
West Virginia Educational Broadcasting Authority will meet at 10 a.m. June 3 at 600 Capitol St. The West Virginia Public Broadcasting Foundation will meet afterward.
Communities In Schools of Greenbrier County and the Greenbrier Bowling and Recreation Center will hold the inaugural Miles Over Mountains for Kids Bike Run on June 6. Registration is from 8 to 10:30 a.m. at Eastern Greenbrier Middle School in Ronceverte. First bike goes out at 9 a.m. and the last bike out is 11 a.m. The run ends at Greenbrier Bowling and Recreation Center at 5:30 p.m. The cost of each hand is $20; riders must purchase multiple hands. Prizes include $600 for first place, $300 for second place and $10 for the worst hand in addition to door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. All are invited to attend the post-ride celebration at 5:30 p.m. at the recreation center for barbecue, beverages and entertainment by Old School Abbey. There is no gate admission. Proceeds will benefit Communities in Schools of Greenbrier County, a nonprofit, stay-in-school organization that helps youth succeed in school and life.
