POINT PLEASANT, W.Va. -- A Mason County woman was in critical condition Thursday after being shot five times during a dispute with a man who is now charged with attempted murder.

Marshall Nethaniel Siders, 18, of Apple Grove, was arguing with 18-year-old Kaylahni Kensler at Kensler's home in Apple Grove about 5:45 a.m. Thursday when he pulled out a .25 caliber handgun and shot Kensler five times in the torso, according to the Mason County Sheriff's Department and a complaint on file in Mason County Magistrate Court.

According to the criminal complaint, witnesses identified Siders as the shooter, and Siders also admitted to the shooting. Police found seven spent shell casings in the house, the criminal complaint said.

Kensler was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Huntington, where a hospital spokeswoman said Kensler was in critical condition.

Siders was charged with attempted murder and malicious assault, both felonies. Mason County Magistrate Gail Roush set bond at $500,000 for each charge.
