GILBERT, W.Va. -- Mingo County schools damaged by flooding this month face uncertainty about graduation plans and even when -- or if -- they'll be able to reopen this year.
As of Wednesday, only the schools in Williamson were open, leaving three high schools, two middle schools and two elementary schools closed.
The hardest hit are in Gilbert, and county Schools Superintendent Dwight Dials says he doesn't expect students to be back in class there before the end of the school year in June.
Gilbert Elementary School Principal Delmer Blankenship estimates his school and the high school probably suffered about $2 million worth of damage.
Gilbert High students are also uncertain where they'll celebrate graduation, since their school may be too damaged for the ceremony.
