A Clay County man pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to possessing child pornography on his work computer, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced.
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A Clay County man pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to possessing child pornography on his work computer, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced.
Telford Cruikshank Jr., 42, of Clay, admitted that beginning in 2006, he subscribed to two illegal Web sites that hosted child pornography, a news release states.
When they searched his computer at his business, investigators found more than 300 images depicting prepubescent children engaged in sexually explicit conduct, according to the release.
Cruikchank faces up to 10 years in prison and supervision for life when sentenced by Chief U.S. District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin on Aug. 3.
In a separate case, a Wood County man was sentenced to more than six years in prison for possessing child pornography.
Joseph Lee Carmichael, 46, pleaded guilty in February, the release states.
In 2006, Carmichael began chatting online with an undercover officer who was posing as a 14-year-old girl, according to the release. During various chats, Carmichael used a webcam to send the officer live video of himself and also sent the officer images containing child pornography in the hopes that the officer would reciprocate and send him images in return, the release states.
In November 2007, officers searched Carmichael's home computer, which contained more than 150 images of child pornography, according to the release.

Goodwin sentenced Carmichael to 78 months in prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release.
Also on Monday, an Ohio man was sentenced to five years in prison for crossing state lines to have sex with a minor.
Robert J. Thacker, 37, pleaded guilty in December, admitting that picked up the 15-year-old victim at her house in West Virginia and took her to Ohio, where they had sex, the release states.
Using a false name, Thacker began chatting online with the victim in August 2005, the release states. The girl told him she was 15, and Thacker falsely told her that he was 21, according to the release.
Upon his release from prison, Thacker will be on supervised release for 10 years, according to Goodwin's sentence.
In federal court in Huntington, a Charleston woman was placed on five years' probation for stealing the identity of a patient at the nursing home where she worked.
In February, Pamela J. Morris, 50, pleaded guilty to the charge, admitting that she used the personal information of an elderly patient to apply for a credit card.
Once the card was mailed to her, Morris charged more than $2,200 to the account, the release states.
U.S. District Judge Robert C. Chambers fined Morris $5,000 and ordered her to pay $2,491 in restitution to the victim.
