A Mercer County man was sentenced in federal court Tuesday to more than eight years in prison for possessing child porn, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced.

Terry Leon Blankenship, 40, of Bramwell, pleaded guilty in December, admitting he had over 600 sexually graphic images and videos depicting children, the news release states.

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children identified several of the victims, who submitted statements to the court detailing their emotional suffering not only from the abuse but from the dissemination of the images, according to the release.

U.S. District Judge Thomas E. Johnston said during the sentencing hearing that possession of child pornography is "truly an evil visited upon these children," the release states. Johnston sentenced Blankenship to 100 months in prison.

Also on Tuesday, a federal grand jury in Beckley indicted two men on separate drug charges.

Anthony Davis, 26, of Charleston, is charged with dealing five grams or more of crack cocaine on April 16, according to the indictment.

If convicted, Davis faces up to 40 years in prison.

Henry Gray, 35, is charged with two counts of dealing crack cocaine and one count of possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine in Jefferson on April 20.
