Lincoln County Cruzin' for Kids will host Antique and Classic Car, Truck and Motorcycle Cruz-ins from 1 to 3 p.m. May 2 at the fifth annual Hamlin Street Fair on Walnut Street in downtown Hamlin. There is no registration, but donations will help with the organization's annual Christmas party. The Street Fair, co-sponsored by Lincoln County Fairs and Festivals and area businesses, will be held from 9:30 to 3:30 p.m. A variety of exhibits, crafts, food vendors, music and more will be featured. American Red Cross will sponsor a community blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 4 at Everest Institute, 5514 Big Tyler Road, Cross Lanes. The Charleston Donor Center is open for blood donations at 4501 MacCorkle Ave. S.E. during its new operating hours, noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday. Putnam County Parks and Recreation will have Zumba aerobic dance classes from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, May 5 through June 10 at the Hurricane Valley Community Center, Valley (Wave Pool) Park. The cost is $35 for the six-week course. To register, call 304-562-0518, ext. 3.

Step by Step will host a fundraiser from 5 to 9 p.m. May 7 at IHOP at the Shops at Trace Fork. IHOP will donate 20 percent of all diners' checks to fund Step by Step's bullying prevention and awareness programs, at no additional charge to the diner. Reservations are not necessary. Step by Step is a nonprofit group that supports community members of all ages with after-school programs, community centers, initiatives and partnerships. New River Community and Technical College will offer a creative-writing workshop titled "For Mothers and Daughters: Sharing Through Writing" from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 9 at the Greenbrier Valley Campus in Lewisburg. Author Belinda Anderson will conduct the workshop. Pre-registration is required; the deadline is May 7. The fee is $55 per participant. Class size is limited to 14 students in seven teams.
