Study finds food-wrapper chemicals in blood

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - A new scientific study has for the first time found a group of chemicals used in coatings on food wrappers in human blood.

Previous reports have documented low levels of certain perfluorochemicals -- those used to make commercial products like food wrapper coatings -- in the blood of the general human population.

But the new study, led by University of Toronto researchers, focused on chemicals that are actually used in food wrapper coatings and other consumer products.

The findings, published this week in the journal Environmental Science and Technology, provide more information about how humans are being exposed to these toxic materials.

Scott Mabury, one of the study authors, said the results indicate that these food wrapper coatings are likely breaking down in the body into C8, which is also known as PFOA, and a related chemical called PFOS.

"A significant amount of the levels in human blood is coming from products that make it inside our bodies," Mabury said in a phone interview.

DuPont execs will swear to you, you can chow down and swallow all their wrapper chemicals you want along with your cheeseburger, fries, and microwave popcorn. That C8 in your belly and blood is perfectly harmless, absolutely SAFE, they condescendingly claim. "No risk".

Never mind the Teflon chemical C8 or PFOA is exceedingly toxic, known to cause a wide variety of illnesses, malformations, and cancers in animals, and adjudged by the U. S. EPA's own Science Advisory Panel as a "likely human carcinogen." And forget C8 is virtually indestructible and likes to accumulate in the body in ever-increasing elevations if exposure to this synthetic industrial chemical remains constant or waxes.

"Bon Appétit!" proclaim the patronising big bosses of this historically French, E. I. du Pont de Nemours and Company.

For years, DuPont's ultra-secretive bosses and their PR flim-flam artists have demanded consumers swallow DuPont's characterisation that the extraordinarily toxic Teflon chemical PFOA or C8, a likely human carcinogen, is perfectly SAFE. Why, C8 is as innocent as Snow White, they chirp, has "no human health effects" and poses "no risk", no matter how much accumulates in your body.

New medical study, after study conducted by independent (non DuPont corrupted or bonus-conflicted) scientists screams exactly the opposite!

To their credit McDonald's management has moved away from PFOA-pregnant packaging for grease resistance, thereby extinguishing a potential health risk for their millions of little and adult customers.
