Randolph County plant rehires laid off workers
Advertiser
BEVERLY, W.Va. -- A Randolph County plant that makes hardwood flooring has rehired workers it laid off in August.
The Armstrong World Industries plant in Beverly laid off 95 workers last year as the housing market declined. Spokeswoman Jennifer Johnson says not all the employees elected to return, and the company is now hiring.
The Lancaster, Pa.-based company also agreed to a contract extension with the Teamsters union, which represents 670 workers at the plant.
The extension, which expires in 2011, provides for a pay raise next year.
Dana Scott of the Teamsters says members are happy with the contract, especially given the state of the economy.
In total, more than 700 people work at the plant.

But I wouldn't plan on a real quick upsurge, just a gradual turnaround for a few months.
Then it will probably take off like it did when Clinton was in.
