Community Walk in the Park: to promote healthy living will be held from 5 to 7 pm. Friday at Fayetteville Town Park. Registration will be held at Shelter 1. All walkers over age 16 will receive a walking pedometer. Bottled water and tips to stay healthy will be provided. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Kanawha State Forest Foundation: presents the 2009 Osbra Eye Memorial Wildflower Walks from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Kanawha State Forest. Registration will be from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the swimming pool area. Several different walks, including wildflower identification, beginning and advanced birding, and photography will be offered. Bring camera and binoculars. The cost is $5 for age 16 and over and $2 for under age 16. Door prizes, raffle, hot dog sale and free drinks are featured. Walks are assisted by the Department of Natural Resources; Handlan Chapter Brooks Bird Club, Mary Ingles Trail Blazers and West Virginia Native Plant Society. West Virginia Humanities Council: will host Professor Hannah Geffert of Shepherd University as he presents "John Brown and His Secret Alliance" as part of the Little Lecture Series at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Council headquarters, 1310 Kanawha Blvd. E.
