Even if every state makes gay marriage legal, each church is still free to grant or withhold its religious ceremony depending on its own level of tolerance or bigotry, so what's the problem?
To the person complaining about the U.S. making payments to the United Nations, don't they know the U.S. is already the most delinquent country in the world in paying its pledges to the UN?
Someone in the Readers' Voice said that environmental groups are "worse than al-Qaida." Do you really think that people who are trying to save this planet are terrorists? Do us all a favor and don't vote. You don't care about where we live and you have no right inflicting elected officials on me who are too stupid and uninformed to care.
Community gardens are a good idea. People need to learn how to grow food. They need to see how hard it is, but the rewards are worth it. There is no better feeling to see something you put in the ground mature, and then the taste is wonderful.
Will the coal companies and strip miners pay for the damage to my home from the blasting? Will they pay for the medical bills from the poison air and water from irresponsible coal mining? My child's life is worth more than new trucks and four-wheelers. These coal companies and their employees are worse than any al-Qaida.
Now that the legislative session is over for a while, watch all the local liquor sales go down.
You could put over a hundred Southridge-type shopping centers on some of these mountaintop removal coal mines and still have room left over for a large airport.
We all owe a debt of gratitude to the students of Glenville State University and to the Boy Scout troop that planted the seedlings on the slope below Yeager Airport.
Would someone please explain to me how same-sex marriage can hurt me or anyone else without bringing the Bible into the explanation?
To the gentleman who inferred that the University of Charleston is building, they haven't built anything. They tore down the old Carbide building in South Charleston. They don't have the money to build anything on the Watt Powell property. The Laidley Field property was already built when they entered into an agreement to use it.
A year ago, Don Imus made derogatory remarks about the black female members of a basketball team and outrage occurred and he was fired. A couple of days ago, Jamie Foxx made horrible remarks about Miley Cyrus, who is still a child, and his remarks were worse than Don Imus. He said he is a comedian and he didn't mean it. It sounds like a double standard.
Some of us love to see the exquisite color of violets and dandelions brightening our lawns. They are just more of God's free gifts. Of course you can spray your lawn with expensive poisons, which are poison to your and other people's pets.
The best thing to do for cats is to spay and neuter them. If you don't understand why, visit you local animal shelter right now or any time during the next four months.

I agree with the caller who also wondered why it was OK about the asphalt jungle at Southridge, Dudley Farms and Trace Shops.
Part of Route 60 has two lanes east and two lanes west, plus a turning lane in the middle. Is traffic supposed to stop in all five lanes when a school bus is stopped?
The people putting down the tea parties are missing the point. We are currently paying 42 percent of our wages to taxes. Obama wants us to pay more. Who in their right mind wouldn't have a problem with that?
Why would anyone want to try to tear down UC? It is one of West Virginia's most precious institutions, advancing over many years from humble beginnings to the crown jewel of culture, knowledge and public service it is today.
To the 2009 session of the West Virginia Legislature, let them long be remembered as the do-nothing group. So many missed opportunities and such a waste of taxpayers' money.
Nonviolent drug offenders make up the bulk of the prison population, but that is being very simplistic. In order to get drugs, they break in peoples' homes, rob senior citizens, snatch purses in the parking lot and shoplift in stores. These are more serious crimes, in my opinion.
Federal government contracts are demanding that union labor be hired to perform such work. Eleven percent of the workforce in the United States is union, therefore 89 percent of the workforce is left out of government contracts.
I graduated college in 1979 with no Promise scholarship. My father was poor, but I worked all summer, worked after college, did not have expensive clothes, no iPod and no expensive cell phone.
Most of us aren't rich, but if we have dividends or capital gains you can bet that our taxes are going up soon.
The Boston Tea Party was a riot. It was not a bunch of wimps waving signs all over the place.
To the person asking about the violets and dandelions in their yard, you keep the violets and you make greens to eat out of the leaves of the dandelions and then use the yellow bloom for wine.
The Republican Party has joined the axis of evil. Why do they hate Americans looking for work and health care? They remind me of a snake in the grass.
The people who participated in the tea party rally need to practice what they preach. Any extra pay you receive on your paychecks mail back to the government and don't claim any tax credits, even if you qualify. Also, senior citizens that don't want their $250, the president should use it where it will be appreciated.
