Even if every state makes gay marriage legal, each church is still free to grant or withhold its religious ceremony depending on its own level of tolerance or bigotry, so what's the problem?

To the person complaining about the U.S. making payments to the United Nations, don't they know the U.S. is already the most delinquent country in the world in paying its pledges to the UN?

Someone in the Readers' Voice said that environmental groups are "worse than al-Qaida." Do you really think that people who are trying to save this planet are terrorists? Do us all a favor and don't vote. You don't care about where we live and you have no right inflicting elected officials on me who are too stupid and uninformed to care.

Community gardens are a good idea. People need to learn how to grow food. They need to see how hard it is, but the rewards are worth it. There is no better feeling to see something you put in the ground mature, and then the taste is wonderful.

Will the coal companies and strip miners pay for the damage to my home from the blasting? Will they pay for the medical bills from the poison air and water from irresponsible coal mining? My child's life is worth more than new trucks and four-wheelers. These coal companies and their employees are worse than any al-Qaida.

Now that the legislative session is over for a while, watch all the local liquor sales go down.

You could put over a hundred Southridge-type shopping centers on some of these mountaintop removal coal mines and still have room left over for a large airport.

We all owe a debt of gratitude to the students of Glenville State University and to the Boy Scout troop that planted the seedlings on the slope below Yeager Airport.

Would someone please explain to me how same-sex marriage can hurt me or anyone else without bringing the Bible into the explanation?

To the gentleman who inferred that the University of Charleston is building, they haven't built anything. They tore down the old Carbide building in South Charleston. They don't have the money to build anything on the Watt Powell property. The Laidley Field property was already built when they entered into an agreement to use it.

A year ago, Don Imus made derogatory remarks about the black female members of a basketball team and outrage occurred and he was fired. A couple of days ago, Jamie Foxx made horrible remarks about Miley Cyrus, who is still a child, and his remarks were worse than Don Imus. He said he is a comedian and he didn't mean it. It sounds like a double standard.

Some of us love to see the exquisite color of violets and dandelions brightening our lawns. They are just more of God's free gifts. Of course you can spray your lawn with expensive poisons, which are poison to your and other people's pets.

The best thing to do for cats is to spay and neuter them. If you don't understand why, visit you local animal shelter right now or any time during the next four months.

because the next step would be for someone in authority, such as a judge, to try forcing a church to allow a ceremony they don't approve of.

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone planting a garden planted one extra row of each vegetable and gave them to the local food banks? How about the churches? If each church rented a garden area and the members raised a garden and donated all the veggies to food banks, look how much "free food" would be given to those who need it!
