HARRISVILLE, W.Va. -- The state Fire Marshal's Office is investigating a suspicious fire that killed a 57-year-old man in northern West Virginia.

Assistant state Fire Marshal Mackey Ayersman said Sunday that Terry Echard died when his mobile home in Harrisville caught fire around 1:20 p.m. Saturday.

Though neighbors extinguished the fire before crews arrived, Ayersman said Echard suffered from multiple sclerosis and had difficulty walking.

Echard's body was sent to the state medical examiner's office in Charleston for an autopsy.
