CHELYAN, W.Va. -- A man was taken to the hospital after he was stabbed in the back this afternoon.

The man was allegedly stabbed shortly before 1 p.m., according to a Metro 911 dispatcher. He was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital.

It was unclear how serious his injuries are, the dispatcher said.

Kanawha County sheriff's deputies have detained a person in the stabbing, but no official arrest has been made yet, the dispatcher said.
