I guess I am what is called a “tree hugger,” since I do love and admire trees, especially if they are old.
With that said, I will say that our beautiful Capitol has too many trees obscuring the magnificent work of art that the great Cass Gilbert created.
The postcard you see is a 1930s view of the Capitol not long after completion, and the Boulevard is not yet built.
Next week, I will show you the Capitol, circa 1946, without so many trees.
