CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A 40-year-old man was struck and killed by an SUV shortly after 8 p.m. Monday night.

The man was crossing U.S. 119 in the area of Prichard Road just south of Danville at 8:07 p.m. when a 2007 Toyota SUV hit him, said Senior Trooper K.D. Harper of the West Virginia State Police.

The driver of the vehicle was not hurt, he said. The man was pronounced dead on the scene.
