Lincoln man gets prison for producing child porn
A Lincoln County man was sentenced in federal court Tuesday to 25 years in prison for producing child pornography, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced.
Clinton Combs, 45, of Harts, pleaded guilty to the charge in October 2008, admitting that he enticed the female victim into sexually explicit conduct so that he could make a video, the news release states.
Evidence gathered by a joint investigation by the West Virginia State Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation showed that Combs' years-long abuse and sexual assault of the victim began when she was 4, according to the release.
As he imposed the 25-year sentence, Chief U.S. District Judge Joseph R. Goodwin told Combs that he "stole her childhood," the release states.
Teen's trial in woman's shooting set for May
The trial of a Charleston teenager charged with murder and attempted murder for allegedly shooting a pregnant teen in the abdomen has been set for May 18.
Kelly Juwon Chapman, 15, entered a not guilty plea at his arraignment by Kanawha Circuit Judge Duke Bloom on Tuesday.
Chapman is charged with shooting 18-year-old Nastasha Folden outside the Shop & Go at the corner of Washington Street East and Ruffner Avenue on Nov. 2.
Folden was pregnant at the time. She lived, but the unborn child did not.
Ed ReBrook, Chapman's attorney, told Bloom he has concerns about his client's mental capacity and asked for time to have him evaluated.

Man pleads innocent in April hunting fatality
A 20-year-old St. Albans man was arraigned Tuesday on charges stemming from a fatal hunting accident in April.
Andrew Scott Hardin, 20, entered a plea of not guilty to charges of wanton endangerment, involuntary manslaughter, negligent shooting and failure to render aid stemming from the incident that left 16-year-old Nicholas Lee Caldwell dead.
Kanawha County assistant prosecutor Fred Giggenbach asked that as a condition of his bond, Hardin have no access to firearms.
"After this incident, he obtained a hunting license six months later," Giggenbach said. "Which tells me he probably went hunting."
Kanawha Circuit Judge Duke Bloom granted Giggenbach's motion, and also ordered an immediate drug test for Hardin. Hardin told Bloom he was likely to test positive for marijuana, which he said he had smoked within two or three days.
"[That] better be the last time," Bloom warned him.
