CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Charleston police have charged two more people in connection with the Tuesday robbery of the State Credit Union just east of the Capitol in the 2200 block of Washington Street.
Shearney Lee McKeller, 37, of Charleston, and Latisha Renee Dorsey, 38, of Charleston, were both charged with first-degree robbery Wednesday.
McKeller, who police initially said cooperated in the investigation, and Dorsey planned the robbery with Elmore and Bowman, according to a press release from Charleston Police.
McKeller drove the getaway car and Bowman was a passenger, police said.
Police said that after reviewing the circumstances and statements from the case, Bowman admitted her role and said McKeller was involved, said Chief of Detectives S.A. Cooper.
Elmore entered the credit union, handed the teller a blank piece of paper and told her it was a robbery, said Sgt. Aaron James, assistant chief of detectives. He was calm at first, but started speaking louder and became more agitated, he said.
"He kept saying he did not want to take hostages, but he would if he had to," James said.
Elmore put his hand in his pocket as if he had a gun, but didn't show one, according to the criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court. He put the money in a white bag as the teller gave it to him, police said.
