Insurer denies claim for dead Iraq vet
Family's lawsuit in federal court says AIG's refusal reason is frivilous

In August 2007, White was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, and began treatment at the Veterans Affairs clinic in Kanawha City.

Although he was taking prescription medicines at the time of his death, a toxicology screen performed as a part of an autopsy indicated normal levels of his medication, the lawsuit maintains. The autopsy found no disease, organ damage or health problems, the lawsuit states.

The state Medical Examiner's Office determined that White's death was accidental, according to the lawsuit.

However, when his parents submitted his death certificate to AIG, the insurer denied their claim.

"[AIG] said that had they known that Andrew White had a car accident when he was 16 years old, they never would have written the policy to begin with," said Charleston attorney Jack Tinney, who represents the White family. "That's ludicrous.

"They have gone back and searched for any reason whatsoever to deny the claim, rather than look for a valid reason," Tinney said.

Carrie Goodwin Fenwick, who represents AIG, could not be reached Friday.

Last week, the insurance company had the case moved to federal court.

The lawsuit seeks $50,000, which represents the full proceeds of the policy, plus unspecified compensatory and punitive damages.

There is more to this story - most likly on both sides - there has to be. There is no mention of cause "accidental" is not a cause it is a circumstance.

If it is true the judge should revoke AIG right to sell life insurance - all companies - all divisions.

There must be accountability. These U.S. Marines are the very individuals who allow us to conduct our daily business as we know it.

If you can read this thank your teacher - if you can read in english thank a Marine.

You won't see anything more about this story ever again, because the next chapter won't be sensationalistic enough to sell trashy newspapers.

But I can virtually guarantee that there's a rather huge and critical set of facts that have been left out of this story.

Seriously, do you think insurance companies are stupid enough to hire someone who's stupid enough to deny a claim like this, for that reason?

You've been lied to, folks, Maybe you should start wondering why, for a change.

Hey GIJAKE,

-Ahhhh yes, the trickle down effect. Doesn't explain why th middle class is still shrinking....after 7 years of this "bountiful" war.
-Same answer as above
-Haliburton has had massive profits; no arguing with that fact.
-No oil fields have been secured. The Iraqis can nationalize everything overnight. So this war was about OIL after all???
-Good punishment for 9/11??? And the Iraqis played what part in that??? Even Bush admitted that Iraq played no role. This last point proves the fact that you are RETARDED!!!

Take the GI out of that name. You give them a bad name.

Get back on your medication. Maybe that will help.

Ahh, yet again we witness the result of America's accountability and responsibility of the GOP compassion for corporations free-for-all and.... for the CEO's bonus packages. Could it be that AIG is one of the 75 percent of America's corporations that doesn't pay taxes who "support the troops" unless they come home damaged goods?
