Two teens were arrested Tuesday for stealing a Raleigh County school bus and driving it until it burned up, the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department announced.
The juveniles, both 14, escaped from the Burlington United Methodist Center and stole a $74,000 school bus from the county facility in Cranberry, the news release states. They did $1,000 worth of damage to a chain link fence at the garage by driving through it.
The burning bus was later discovered in Mount Hope in Fayette County, the release states.
Around 2 p.m., one of the boys turned himself in to the Mount Hope Police Department, and the second boy was later found at a home in Mount Hope, according to the release.
The boys drove the bus until it started to burn, the release states. They then fled on foot.
Both teens were served with runaway juvenile petitions, and additional juvenile petitions for grand larceny, conspiracy and destruction of property are pending in Raleigh County, the release states.
