Man at Gravely funeral charged with having gun

A man was arrested and charged with carrying a concealed weapon on Saturday during the funeral of Na'lisha Gravely, who was fatally shot July 5 at a Taco Bell on Charleston's West Side.

On Saturday, Terrance Edgerton, 21, of Charleston was observed by Charleston Police placing an unknown object on the tire of a police cruiser at Shrewsbury and Donnally streets, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

Edgerton then became upset that a vehicle had blocked his 2002 Chevy Impala into a parking lot, according the complaint. After the blocking vehicle was removed, Edgerton removed the object from the cruiser's tire and put in the back seat of his car.

Charleston Officer M. Petty pulled over Edgerton and found a .45 caliber handgun in a backpack behind Edgerton's seat, according the complaint.

Sgt. Aaron James said the department does not know if the found gun was the item placed on the cruiser's tire.

Edgerton was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and faces up to a $1,000 in fines and one year in jail. He has been released on $100 bond.

The police didn't have enough respect for Na'Lisha's life to show up at her hearings, yet they had the audacity to make themselves visible for her funeral. There may not have been a funeral if they did their jobs when she was alive.

If it was your mother who was murdered (due to lack of protection) would you want the police at her funeral searching the guests, and serving warrants?

I say, "no way". The police should have been at a donut shop with their tail between their legs, NOT at Na'lisha's funeral.

I'm not sure I read your post correctly...

Let's say your sister begged for police protection, but didn't get it, and as a result was brutaly murdered, by a hard-core criminal who managed to evade any meaningful punishment.

So now your sister is dead, and the police essentially did NOTHING to help her.

Would you want them at her funeral? Furthermore, would you be okay with the police (who did very little to save your sisters life) searching and serving warrants on each person who attends your sisters funeral? Including your mother, father, grandma, grandpa, cousins, friends, former teachers, nieces, nephews, brothers, sisters, community members...

Like I said, I pretty sure I read your post wrong, at least I'm hoping I did.

Would you really be okay with that?

Each individual at the sevice should have been seached and warrents served. I would be willing to bet more than one would have. It is time for action in Charleston.

Does he have a permit for a gun? Isn't this the same young man that was arrested at the CAMC emergency room for disruptive behavior? Are there regulations for obtaining a license to carry a gun?...
