Dunbar officer faces domestic battery charge
Advertiser

A Dunbar police officer was charged with domestic battery Sunday for allegedly slapping his wife and pressing his finger into her chest.

George Ike Rader, 50 of Grandview Drive, Dunbar, got into an argument with his wife over showing favoritism to their children, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.

During the argument he slapped her about 20 times and pressed his finger into her upper chest, West Virginia State Trooper E.B. McClung wrote in the complaint.

In an interview with McClung, Rader acknowledged arguing with his wife but that he pushed her with his finger only to get her out of his face, according to the complaint.

Rader also said he did not slap the woman at any point during the incident, according to the complaint.

Rader was arraigned on Sunday in front of Kanawha County Magistrate Ward Harshbarger, who released him on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond.

Dunbar Police Chief Earl Whittington said Rader was placed on administrative leave on Sunday, pending the outcome of the criminal investigation and an internal investigation of the matter.

"We're going to deal with this as professionally as we can," he said. "Everyone is innocent until proven guilty, and we need to get to the facts."

Actually "OUTRAGED" George Rader is a STAND UP GUY. It is well know by many of us that George had been the victim of abuse himself. You know family tragedy is heavy for the whole family, not just the mother. I hope they as well as their children get the help they need. What a shame for a lovely family to be torn apart.

I can\'t believe that a \"stand up\" guy could be such a coward. What kind of insecure man puts his hands on his wife? The wife has been through enough, and if it were me, I would have an iron skillet with his name on it the next time he came near me. I feel bad for her, and it\'s a shame that the victim has to be humiliated by this \"stand up\" Mr. Perfect, outstanding citizen, cop, coward.

I'm sorry "DoYou?" I didn't realize my comment was the actual verdict in the case. Maybe I better let the whole story come out like you said. I wouldn't want my opinion or comment to stop the case from going to court. Thanks for straightening me out.
By the way I do not have 24-7 access to everything in his home but neither do lawyers, judges, or jury members so what is that supposed to mean?

Do you live in the Rader household?Do you have 24-7 access to everything inside this man's house?Let all the facts come out before you start blowing someone's horn. Was EMS called to treat the lady's injuries, coz if you got slapped 20 times you should have redness and some swelling, perhaps some bleeding. If she was slapped he needs to be punished,if she is lying, she needs to be charged for falsifying a police report.Let the whole story come out.
