A Cross Lanes man was arrested Wednesday night after a Kanawha County Sheriff's deputy said he found the man growing almost $18,000 worth of marijuana in his house.
Deputy W.C. Moyers was acting on an anonymous tip that Joshua B. Messer, 42, was growing the marijuana at 26 Lakeshore Drive. Messer consented for Moyers to search his house, according to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court. Moyers said he found marijuana seeds in a shoebox in the bedroom closet and a growing device containing marijuana plants in the basement.
Messer was charged with cultivating marijuana.
