Taste of Bridge Day

The WOAY Taste of Bridge Day is set for 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 18 at Smoke's On The Gorge in Fayette County.

The annual event hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Oak Hill and Fayetteville is an opportunity to sample an array of West Virginia products from statewide restaurants and cookeries.

Each vendor will serve sample-sized portions of their specialties. Portions are purchased with one to five tickets with each ticket priced at $1. Tickets will be available at the Fayette County Chamber/Visitors Center, Crossroad Mall or at the door.

The event is a fundraiser for the Rotary Clubs.

Smokey's is an open-air restaurant overlooking the Gorge. 

Greenhouse Dinner Theater

HURRICANE -- The Greenhouse of  Teays Valley is presenting an interactive murder mystery dinner theater at 7 p.m.  Oct.11 and 12 at its facility at 3554 Teays Valley Road in Hurricane.

 Murder and Merriment will perform "The Ghost of Windsor Manor." The Friday show is for adults only; the Saturday performance will be family-friendly with a Halloween theme.

The dinner theater is $40 per person. Call 304-397-6316 for reservations.

Other events planned at the Greenhouse are a beer tasting, with paired foods, at 7 p.m. Oct. 10 and a sushi class at 6 p.m. Oct. 17.  

The beer tasting is $45 for six rounds of 6-ounce beer options and matching food selections.

The all-you-can-make-and-eat sushi class is $35. No raw fish will be among the ingredients.

Chili Cookoff

HURRICANE -- The Harvest Festival Chili Cookoff begins at 4 p.m. Saturday at Hurricane City Park on Teays Valley Road.

Each contestant must prepare 2 gallons of chili for the judges to taste at 4:30 p.m.; sampling for the People's Choice award is from 5 to 5:30 p.m. with winners announced at 6 p.m. Tasting cups and spoons will be provided.

First place prize is $300, second place $200, third place $100 and People's Choice $100.
