SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The first Kanawha Valley Disc Golf Bowl will be held Feb. 13 at Little Creek Park to raise money and collect food for Covenant House's food pantry. Registration is at 8:15 a.m. with tee off at 8:45 a.m.
Individuals, families and groups may participate. Registration is $20 and 10 canned food items. The first 36 registrants will receive a free disc. Lunch will be provided to all participants.

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The American Red Cross Haiti relief dinner at the Bridge Road Bistro on Jan. 26 raised $20,426 to donate to the earthquake recovery efforts in Haiti.
Folded Leaf for Haiti
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Instructors and therapists at the Folded Leaf donated their time and labor on Jan. 23 as a way to celebrate Yoga Day USA. All events were offered on a donation basis, and $821 was raised to contribute to the Red Cross for its Haiti relief effort.
Hospital volunteers
SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston is recruiting volunteers for new and existing programs.
They include information staff at the main lobby to help visitors, sales associates in the gift shop, help for family members in the surgical waiting room, and the craft group that makes hand-made stuffed animals for children who are hospitalized.

Monte Carlo 2010
LEWISBURG, W.Va. -- Monte Carlo Night, a fundraiser for Carnegie Hall, will be held from 8 p.m. to midnight on Feb. 27 at the Cecil H. Underwood Building at the West Virginia State Fairgrounds.
Faux gambling tables will be set up and The Greenbrier will provide the dessert spread. An open bar will be provided and the Old School Abbey will provide music.

Free pancakes at IHOP
GLENDALE, Calif. -- To raise money for children's hospital programs nationwide, IHOP restaurants are offering a free short stack of pancakes from 7 to 10 a.m. Feb. 23. In exchange, a donation is requested to support local children's hospitals through Children's Miracle Network and other local charities.
Those interested in accepting the offer can order a wakeup call on Feb. 23 from celebrity callers, including NFL hall-of-famer Steve Young and entertainer and Children's Miracle Network co-founder Marie Osmond.
Also, IHOP is offering a year's supply of free pancakes to the winner of "Stacks for Good Acts" online contest. Contestants are to submit a short story about a good deed they or someone they know did. For details on the contest and to order a wakeup call, visit www.IHOPPancakeDay.com.
Rafting for Haiti
OAK HILL, W.Va. -- River Expeditions plans to donate money from rafting proceeds to the American Red Cross for Haiti earthquake relief.
From Monday through Friday, River Expeditions will contribute a portion of all new rafting reservations in support of the relief effort.
Dubbed the "Have a Heart for Haiti" fundraiser, River Expeditions initially announced details through e-mail and on its Web site. Managing partner Heather Johnson said there's been a tremendous response so far. "People are excited to book their trip during this time and make their adventure count."
