Cedar Lakes Winterfest
RIPLEY, W.Va. -- Concerts, craft show and classes and dinner theaters are all part of the sixth annual Winterfest, beginning Nov. 22 and continuing through Jan. 2 at Cedar Lakes Conference Center near Ripley.
More than 500,000 lights are in the free nightly display from 6 to 9 p.m.
Among the highlights are:
Heidi Muller and Bob Webb play seasonal and mountain music in a free concert at 7 p.m. Dec. 1. Ripley and Ravenwood high schools choral concert and dinner is 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5. Craft show and classes are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 5. Jackson County Players perform in dinner theater at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 18 and 19.

Train excursion to NYC
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- A few seats are still available for the Dec. 6-9 trip by rail to New York City from Huntington and Charleston in lounge cars owned by the Collis P. Huntington Railroad Historical Society.
The trip goes through the New River Gorge, over the Allegheny Mountains and up the East Coast to New York City. Meals will be served en route and on return. Three nights' lodging will be at the Hampton Inn in Linden, N.J.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- A day trip by rail from Huntington and Charleston to White Sulphur Springs on Dec. 13 is offered by the Collis P. Huntington Railroad Historical Society.
The train ride through the New River Gorge allows time to take in the Sunday buffet, shop and take tours at The Greenbrier resort. The return trip is by motor coach.

Pricketts Fort Christmas
FAIRMONT, W.Va. -- In a departure from recent years, Pricketts Fort's annual 18th Century Christmas Market will be offered one weekend only, Dec. 11-13.
There will be no admission to the Market Area and the Museum Shop. For sale will be quality historic crafts and products including jewelry, ornaments, handmade items, furniture, Shaker boxes, baskets, books, toys and wine. Seasonal and traditional music will take place throughout each day.
The seasonally decorated fort and Job Prickett House will be open for ticketed tours with costumed historic interpreters. Fees are $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $3 for children between 6 and 12. Hours are Friday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 11 and 12, noon to 4:30 p.m. Dec. 13. Pricketts Fort State Park is 2 miles off Interstate 79 at exit 139. Follow signs to the state park.
