CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Kanawha County Library is holding a Book Brawl to find out what's the favorite book of Kanawha County residents.
"War and Peace"?
"To Kill a Mockingbird"?
"The Good Earth"?
"Pride and Prejudice"?
None of the above?
Suggestions were provided by attendees to the West Virginia Book Festival and library staff. From them, the library selected 64 contenders for the title.
The head-to-head battle of the books begins Nov. 23 and continues to Dec. 31 -- as the last event of the library's yearlong celebration of its 100th anniversary.
Vote online at www.kanawhalibrary.org each week, as the losers are gradually eliminated until the last book emerges victorious.
Each week, voting will begin at noon on Monday and conclude at midnight on Sunday. The weekly winners will be posted on Monday afternoon. The ultimate champion will be announced Jan. 4.
Here are the matches for the first round of competition:
1. "A Separate Peace," John Knowles vs. "Blue Moon," Laurell K. Hamilton
