Thanksgiving today
POCA, W.Va. -- The annual Thanksgiving Benefit Dinner to Aid the Homeless is from noon to 3 p.m. Nov. 8 at Wellington's of Scarlet Oaks.
Tickets are $30 with children age 10 and younger free. Proceeds benefit the YWCA Sojourner's Shelter for Homeless Women and Families and the Roark-Sullivan Lifeway Center Inc.
Tea benefit
SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A fashion show and high tea to benefit the Sojourner's Shelter will be held at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Nov. 14 at the Beau-Tea-Full Moments tearoom, 600 D St., South Charleston.
The price is $19.95 and reservations are required. Call 30-744-3855.

Garage Ball
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- The Good News Mountaineer Garage will hold its annual Garage Ball on Nov. 14 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Eye and Ear Clinic/Paul Perfater Law Office building, 1311 Virginia St. E.
Music will be by VooDoo Katz and a live auction will be held of cars, truck, motorcycle and art. Suggested donation of $35.
GI Santa Project
BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. -- The GI Santa Project is collecting personal-care items for gift bags for residents of the West Virginia Home for Veterans in Barboursville.

Food, clothing drive
CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- Food and clothing for the Sojourner's Shelter and the Children's Home Society is being collected by the law firm Hill, Peterson, Carper, Bee & Deitzler. Food, clothing and donations made be brought to the firm, 500 Tracy Way, or to the two charities: Children's Home Society, 1422 Kanawha Blvd. E., and Sojourner's, 1114 Quarrier St.
