Lewisburg Friday
LEWISBURG, W.Va. -- First Friday After 5 from 5 to 9 p.m. Nov. 6 will include art exhibits, music and food. The monthly event is free.
At Carnegie Hall, there's the opening of "The Aroma of Paint," a collaborative effort from artists Nita Honaker and Karen Carter. Light refreshments will be served.
Two new photography exhibits, "Dance and Dancers: Passion and Play" by Frances Dowdy and "Honoring America's Coal Miners" by Thorney Lieberman, also are on display.
Wolf Creek Gallery, also known as Blackbird Studio, will feature local photographers Shannon Rausenberger and Mary Baldwin.
At the Irish Pub, West Virginia music historian Jimmy Costa plays from 5 to 8 p.m., followed by the Gaeltacht's Padraig O'Flaitbeartaigh.
And it's a blend of folk, ballads and old country favorites by Pushing' String at The General Lewis Inn.
B&B military deals
SHINNSTON, W.Va. -- Ten members of the Mountain State Association of Bed and Breakfasts are providing free rooms on Nov. 10 to honor servicemen and women who are serving or have served in the military.

Top 20 events
LEWISBURG, W.Va. -- The Lewisburg Chocolate Festival and the Battle of Lewisburg Living History and Reenactment were recently selected by the Southeast Tourism Society as two of the Top 20 Events for spring 2010. This is their second consecutive year to receive the honor.
The list began in 1985 as a way to promote the best events in the Southeast.
The Lewisburg Chocolate Festival is set for April 10, while the Battle of Lewisburg Living History and Reenactment will take place May 21-23.

Logan Frontier Days
LOGAN, W.Va. -- Frontier Days Weekend will be held Nov. 7 and 8 at Logan State Park. The free event is sponsored by Museum in the Park.
An encampment will be set up on museum grounds with demonstrations of different techniques used by early settlers from candle dipping to making tools. Re-enactor Henry Tucker will share stories about the life of an early pioneer scout.
