Cooper Art Gallery
LEWISBURG, W.Va. -- Cooper Gallery is having an exhibit of works by Mark Cline, a Greenbrier County artist who teaches at Eastern Greenbrier Middle School.
"This body of work is in the Fauvist style with great colors and wild rhythms of brushstrokes," said gallery owner Marilyn Cooper. Cline also will have a piece, "After the Thaw," in the Emerging West Virginia Artist Exhibit opening July 1 at the Cultural Center in Charleston.
The artist explained his technique: "My most recent body of work has been done with a palette knife. This process not only involves a painter directly with texture but also involves an awareness of lines that are created in the juxtaposition of colors and shapes."
An opening reception will be held 5 to 8 p.m. July 3 as part of First Fridays After Five in Lewisburg. The show runs through July 31. Cooper Gallery, 122 E. Washington St., Lewisburg. Open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday or by appointment.
