CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- "NCIS" forensic scientist Abby (Pauley Perrette) crosses over to spin-off series "NCIS: Los Angeles" for Tuesday's episode at 9 p.m. on CBS.
November isn't over yet, but thus far it's been surprisingly low-key for Sweeps. Sure, there have been a few big events, like the "CSI" crossover and some reasonably big guest stars, but compared to last year -- when it seemed like I could barely fit all the Sweeps info in the column each week -- this year isn't all that spectacular.
ABC has hit the month the hardest, unleashing a number of music-related specials and awards shows (including the American Music Awards at 8 p.m. Sunday) in addition to rolling out new series and snagging the biggest guest stars.
It started strong with the record-setting premiere of "V" (which breaks until March -- after just four episodes -- at 8 p.m. Tuesday) and kept it up with appearances by Edward Norton and Elizabeth Banks on "Modern Family." The "Dancing with the Stars" finales will ensure big ratings on Monday (performance show, 8 p.m.) and Tuesday (results show, 9 p.m.), and the network debuts its newest reality show, "Find My Family," at 9:30 p.m. Monday.
That's not to say that the other networks aren't doing anything for Sweeps. CBS has two big events this week: a semi-NCIS crossover on Tuesday and the 100th episode of "Criminal Minds" Wednesday.
On Tuesday, NCIS' forensic scientist Abby (Pauley Perrette) heads to "NCIS: Los Angeles" (9 p.m.) to check out a murder that matches the pattern of a serial killer she's been tracking. On Wednesday, the milestone "Criminal Minds" episode (9 p.m.) features a host of guest stars, including C. Thomas Howell, Josh Stewart and Nicholas Brendon.
Plus, there's an appearance by "Battlestar Galactica" hottie Katee Sackhoff on Monday's "Big Bang Theory" (9:30 p.m.).
Fox's highlights this week are Thursday's "Fringe" (9 p.m.), which focuses on The Observers - yes plural - including the one played by Huntington native Michael Cerveris, and "Glee" (9 p.m. Wednesday), which has the rapper Eve as its guest star.
NBC's only offering that's out of the ordinary is "Biggest Loser: Where Are They Now?" at 8 p.m. Wednesday, giving the show four of NBC's 10 non-Leno primetime hours. Way to really ramp things up, guys.
